Ginisang Tuna Recipe
It’s back to school season. If you are a typical Filipino at heart (and stomach), I’m sure breakfast is more than a bagel or a bowl of cereal. Even my children who are born and raised here in the US, already know that a meal isn’t complete without rice and some protein. Onions and parsley can count as vegetables right?
Anyway, here’s a simple recipe that is perfect for breakfast, lunch or even dinner. It’s very easy to make and the ingredients are often already in your pantry.
A quick tip if you can’t wake up early in the morning. You can prepare this the night before and just heat it up in the microwave.
When I posted the picture at the Nanay’s Choice FB group, some moms even gave some tips for leftovers such as Tuna Spaghetti, topping for salad, palaman (filling) for sandwiches and tuna casserole.
Give this recipe a try and let me know how you liked it. If ever you had leftovers, what did you do to make it “new” again?
Have a great week!
Ingredients
3 cans tuna in water (drained)
1 Tbs. corn or canola oil
1 tsp. minced garlic
1/4 cup sliced onions
1/2 tsp. sea salt
pinch of ground black pepper
2 Tbs. fresh lime juice
1 tsp. chopped fresh parsley
pinch of chili flakes
In a preheated pan, add the oil and saute the garlic and onions.
Once the onions are translucent, add the tuna. Cook for 3- 5 minutes.
Season with salt, ground black pepper and chili flakes. Mix well.
Turn off heat, add the lime juice and chopped parsley.
Serve over steamed rice.
